Call for 2018 Conference Proposals:

Advocacy and Social Justice: How Counselors Support
Our Clients, Our Profession and Ourselves

Presenters may not be included on more than two proposals and must be registered no later than Sept 1, 2018

There will be a preference for proposal submissions that creatively integrate advocacy, multiculturalism, social justice, and intersectionality initiatives to address multiple interlocking identities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual identity, gender identity, spirituality, ability status, socioeconomic status, social class, and regional identity. Other subthemes of interest will include the following topics listed below. If your submission does not necessarily explicitly address the theme or subthemes, it will still be strongly considered during the review process.

  • Cultural Oppression and Mental Health
  • School Counselors Addressing Marginalized Populations
  • Career Development: Culture and Access to Opportunity
  • LGBTQ+ Concerns
  • Military Environments and Culture
  • Historically Oppressed Spiritual and Religious Groups
  • Ageism as a Culturally Relevant Construct
  • Building Your Culturally Competent Counseling Business
  • Embracing Social Networking to Enhance Your Referral Network
  • Sharing Your Master and Doctoral-Level Research in a Poster Sessions

Conference structure will include a full day of 50-minute education sessions and 30-minute poster sessions on Saturday and will continue a half-day on Sunday. A pre-conference of ACA Deep Dive Ethics (6 CEs) is available on Friday, November 2 from 9am-5pm.
