Working with Angry Clients: Techniques, Interventions, and Activities, by Dr. Carol ZA McGinnis, PhD, BC-TMH, LCPC, NCC August 5th, 12-1:30pm, EDT via Zoom.

This webinar will provide an overview of strategies for working specifically on the anger that many clients bring into session.  Many counselors find it difficult to engage clients with this emotion in a ways that will connect with therapeutic goals and new coping behaviors.  This webinar will help counselors and mental health providers approach anger in a new way with concrete ways to practice expressing it in healthy ways.  Attendees will learn 1) to understand anger as a positive emotion when it is functional 2) to engage clients in learning more about their anger through specific strategies 3) to assist clients in practice of healthy angering in session.

Carol ZA McGinnis PhD, BC-TMH, LCPC, NCC is serving currently as the 2020-2021 President of MCA. She works full time as Associate Professor at Messiah University and oversees the Clinical Mental Health Track for that Graduate Counseling Program.  Carol identifies as a Pastoral Counselor and recent Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapist (SIP) credentialed trainer through ACPE and values many traditional and contemporary theoretical orientations.  Her research interests are in functional anger and the virtual environment of Xbox videogaming.
